Dai Sorano
Born on November 17, 1984

Blood type: A

Raised in Aizu-Misato, Fukushima, Dai moved to Tokyo at 18 to pursue music.
Although he initially set out on a musical path, most of his twenties were spent in near inactivity. Later, after experiences such as traveling around Japan by bicycle while performing acoustic shows, he began winning multiple music contests. He originally specialized in folk and pop songs centered on themes of life, but as he traced back the roots of his music, he realized that he had grown up in an environment closely connected to traditional Japanese folk songs.

Taking inspiration from the local folk tunes he casually sang as a child—such as “Aizu Bandaisan” and “Takada Jinku”—he developed Namari-uta, a style that transforms traditional folk elements into his own contemporary music. This new musical approach, blending folk traditions with modern sounds, has begun to gain recognition not only throughout Japan but also across borders.

Dai Sorano is shaped by two musical pillars: pop music that values the nuances of the Japanese language, and Namari-uta, which conveys a distinctly Japanese spirit to the world.
His motto is: “Life is a challenge.”
